There has been a change at the top of Historical Families (Famiglie Storiche): Alberto Zenato is the new president of the association dedicated to promoting Amarone.

Alongside him are the vice-presidents Giuseppe Rizzardi and Giordano Begali. The election of the new president and the improved composition of the Board of Directors of the group aims to maintain continuity with previous mandates, with the support of all 13 member families.

Reaching new markets while keeping quality high

Quality control remains a crucial point to work on. “We are going through a period that requires a certain commitment to safeguard the image of excellence of Amarone throughout the world,” commented Alberto Zenato. “The increase in vineyard surface area, the growing demand for Ripasso and higher Amarone production are signs that must be backed by a concrete strategy which doesn’t undermine quality or our presence on Italian and foreign markets.” The aims? “To strengthen historic markets such as the United States, Canada and northern Europe, and to pave the way towards new areas, especially Asia. Dialogue with similar associations to ours will also be important for creating a network, as has already occurred with the Accademia del Barolo”.
