Recioto della Valpolicella should be revalued

Everyone knows that the father of Amarone is called Recioto della Valpolicella and that, perhaps, the son was born by mistake when fermentation of the precious sweet nectar “got out of hand” and the poor vinegrower found himself with a dry red. Today though, the roles are reversed, everyone seeks the son and very few bother with the glorious parent.
Some months ago Sandro Boscaini, president of Masi, invited me to a super tasting of various styles and vintages of Recioto. It was a thrilling experience! Awesome! Recioto really is a monument, to taste with friends, but in some cases perfect with a steak!
This is my account of the day that changed my opinion about Recioto forever.
